Sorry there was no post from the airport. I was far too distracted by the fact that I was in the First Class lounge. Much to my absolute delight this was due to the fact I was upgraded to first class all the way from Sydney to Denver! Much jumping up and down followed this news of course.
I thoroughly enjoyed my flight. There were real sheets and a bedspread. The food was strictly fine dining, I took the opportunity to feast on the entire degustation style menu. Why not I say!
The goodbyes were unsurprisingly hard. Particularly saying goodbye to my mum and the little ones. I must admit to a slightly ‘unhinged’ feeling over the past few days. It felt all so surreal. Leaving work after 12 years was just plain odd. Particularly as I ended up working until 7pm the night before I left. And leaving myself no time for packing. Stressed much?!
Anyway, I am on the other side now. Today was spent enjoying a beautiful day in Vail, carving up the slopes. It’s hard not to smile. There were moments when I felt seriously pumped to be honest. Lucky to be alive and all that.
Must dash now, dinner plans darlings. Toodles.
- Seems my abort relocation mission (email) was a huge success…yip, yip, yippee
- Email from new boss over night mentioning details of my first project – sounds interesting 😉
- Decision – skiing in Utah
- Chicago flights and accommodation booked (hotel looks super lush)
- To do list checks coming along nicely
- Date with Aussie Jim last night – think is more mate than date, but a success!
- Just four weeks tomorrow until I fly
Today, marks 6 weeks to the day until I leave my job in Sydney.
Tomorrow, marks 6 weeks to the day until I leave Sydney.
Today, my friend and Chilli’s auntie departed, bound for LA then NY.
Yesterday I signed the paper work on my rental agreement and had the photographs taken for the advertising.
Today, I signed my re-mortgage paper work.
This time in 6 weeks tomorrow, I shall be arriving somehwhere in the US of A, hopefully somewhere with loads of snow! That’s right, we’re going skiing.
Oh and lets not forget, in 5 weeks tomorrow I’m having a huge farewell/40th/f**ck of breast cancer party.
I told you. Time is ticking!
Since it looks like I will be spending some time in Chicago, lovely Auntie Micole has gifted me the books in the know – the Wallpaper guide AND the Luxe guide. I will have to give them a work out 😉
I have also recently been thinking hard about where I want to visit in the USA while it’s on my doorstop a lot lately. So far here is my list – which I’m sure I will add to over the years to come!
- Aspen, Whistler, Sundance, Vail actually all of the best ski fields
- San Fran
- San Diego
- The Grand Canyon
- Marthas Vineyard
- The Hamptons
- Miami (made the list even though have been before!)
- Niagara Falls
- Yosemite National park
- Yellowstone National park
- Texas – a ranch 😉
By the way, whilst pondering this matter I came across an awesome list of inspiration, you can find it here.
